Responsibilities

Game Designer plays a key role in designing engaging features and balancing complex in-game economies of Merge Mansion, which will entertain millions of players for many years to come. In practice, this means (at least) the following:

  • Taking ownership of designing game features from concept to implementation

  • Designing, modeling, monitoring, and balancing complex game economy systems, making sure that the game experience is fun and engaging

  • Managing the economy and pricing of virtual goods, maintaining a balance between free content and paid currency

  • Ensuring that every system in the game is tuned and works seamlessly together with the rest

  • Being the go-to person for questions about a new feature, existing design, or an ongoing in-game event

Requirements

Every role is eventually shaped to match our unique passions, backgrounds and strengths. Here are some of the key skills and experience you should already have when joining Metacore as a Game Designer:

  • Extensive experience in game design, game systems, and balancing game economies including leading design for a shipped product

  • Clear understanding of free to play games and how their game economies work

  • Strong sensitivity to gameplay and game design which makes you uniquely skilled in building needs and emotions in the context of a game

  • Logical thinker with strong attention to detail. Working with numbers and analyzing data is your second nature, and Excel is a go-to in your toolkit

  • Ability to communicate game concepts in a strong and concise way

In addition to these, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have these as well:

  • Programming or scripting skills

Sounds about right? Then let’s talk!
