Tech Programmer

We are looking for a skilled Tech Programmer to enhance the platform that drives our entire development process, ensuring we maintain high performance and scalability. You’ll be joining the Merge Mansion Tech Team, focusing on the client side, where you’ll work closely with developers across all areas to tackle technical challenges, improve development speed, and manage long-term project viability.

Responsibilities
- Collaborating closely with all developers within Merge Mansion through consulting, knowledge sharing, and mentoring
- Developing the architecture of the game and creating simple, easy-to-use APIs that enable other developers to work quickly and safely, while being accountable for the core systems of the game
- Establishing code conventions and standards by gathering feedback, conducting research, and driving these conventions across projects
- Profiling and analyzing the game to identify and solve performance issues proactively
- Developing and improving on processes and workflows, and removing development bottlenecks by creating tools and improving pipelines
- Being accountable for reviewing and updating external dependencies, including SDKs, plugins, and packages
- Providing technical leadership in projects to drive them to completion
Requirements
- Extensive understanding of C#
- Comprehensive knowledge of Unity Engine (Rendering, Building, Editor Extensions, UI, Input, Packages, and Plugins)
- Deep understanding of various programming patterns and anti-patterns, and the ability to adapt them to both existing and new solutions
- Experience working with different platforms, including iOS and Android
- Creative problem solving skills to tackle cases where we often work with complex systems and situations that need compromising
- Good understanding of what it means to work with an ever growing code-base and the ability to think long-term
- Ability to detect weak points in the codebase and provide better architectural proposals, with the foresight to to anticipate potential problems
In addition to these, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have these as well:
- Experience with other game engines
- Knowledge of game backends
- Ability to use other languages, such as C++, Rust, Javascript, or Python
- Experience working with asset pipelines and CI systems
