To make Metacore an easy “yes” for top talent, Metacore offers job opportunities and relocation support to both our Helsinki and Berlin offices. This comprehensive hands-on help enabled our Economy Designer Elena Eremeeva to relocate first to Helsinki and, a year later, to Berlin. What advice does she have for others considering relocation?

Supporting every step of the way

Originally from the Republic of Sakha, Yakutia, Elena began her career studying biotechnology in St. Petersburg and working as a main technologist at a research institute. However, her dream of a work environment more focused on creative problem-solving led her to eventually pursue a career in mobile games. Unlike her previous careers, she finds the gaming industry to be a unique mix of art, entertainment, technology, and economics, offering both direct creative impact and just the right amount of challenges. Working in games has also led her around the world and eventually to Metacore, when she relocated to our Helsinki office in early 2024 and joined the city’s vibrant game industry.

Deciding to uproot one’s life to a new country is always a big step, which is why we aim to make the move as frictionless as possible. Support starts with expert guidance on visas and work permits and continues on the ground with required registrations, with the same care extended to relocating families. After arrival, Metacore provides temporary accommodation for the first months while practical matters are set up, from bank accounts to local tax and social security. As the dust settles, our help also covers finding long-term housing so the move turns into a lasting home.

However, keys collected and first boxes opened are only the opening chapters of relocation. The story continues with learning a new culture, environment, and way of living. That’s something Elena knows well – she’s made the move twice with Metacore’s help.

Elena Eremeeva's relocation journey

Making the new city feel like home

After her first year with the company, Elena felt ready for new challenges and expressed interest in transferring to Metacore’s Berlin office. While she’ll miss Helsinki’s peaceful atmosphere, sauna evenings with colleagues and the easy access to nature, she felt Berlin was the right fit for her next chapter. “Berlin fits me really well at this stage of my life: here it’s easy for me to travel, meet friends outside of work and also to have friends visit me,” Elena explains.

Having seen how well the relocation process worked the first time around, Elena felt that she could, as they say, trust the process:

“For me, it was very important to feel supported, and I truly appreciate how Metacore helped me through the entire journey. My advice for others relocating would be to understand yourself, stay in tune with your needs, and trust that the company will support you along the way.”

Alongside the end-to-end relocation support, Metacore helps newcomers ease into life in Berlin with cultural support like German language classes, afterworks and other gatherings at the office.

“The welcome here has been so warm, and I really enjoy the activities we do together as a team. In the summer we go cycling, and we like to try different sports from bouldering to beach volleyball. Recently we got a new pool table in the office, so it’s been fun to play pool after work,” Elena mentions.

Stronger collaboration between locations

But what has relocation meant for her role? After her move, Elena has continued to work as Economy Designer in the Events Product Area, which currently includes four feature teams – two of them in Berlin. Turns out, the relocation has already improved collaboration between the cities. “I have more opportunities to collaborate with the Berlin teams in person, exchange ideas quickly, and be part of the spontaneous conversations that happen naturally in the office. Having previously worked in Helsinki, I already have good connections with the teams there as well. Now I feel more connected to both sides,” Elena describes.

That’s the goal of relocation at Metacore: smooth transition, real support and meaningful collaboration and impact, no matter the city. Regardless of whether you’re considering packing your suitcases for Berlin or Helsinki, you can be sure we will support you every step of the way. And while each location has its own quirks, working at Metacore always means crafting world-class entertainment – and having fun doing it.
