We are looking for an insightful UX & Player Researcher to design and implement research activities that validate early-stage game concepts for our new titles. You’ll be joining the New Games Marketing/Research team and focusing on all things related to new games validation and research. Your role involves turning questions such as “Would this game mechanic resonate with players?” or “Is our storyline compelling?”—into actionable research. You will oversee premise testing and building our validated games backlog, with the opportunity to take ownership of full game research projects in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing a wide range of methods, including interviews, playtests, concept tests, and surveys
  • Building a backlog of validated game concepts for teams to move forward
  • Designing research tests and activities that accommodate various content forms, such as text, static visuals, or animation
  • Reporting findings to relevant stakeholders

Requirements

  • A good understanding of game design, product development, games UX, and the casual games market, preferably within a free-to-play model
  • Experience in similar roles where integrating user research into product game design
  • A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, UX, or related fields
  • Experience with different research methods and techniques, and knowledge of when and how to apply them during different stages of the product development process, especially in the early stages
  • Excellent communication skills, you can effectively communicate findings to relevant stakeholders including Designers, Artists, and Game Leads
  • Analytical skills, enabling you to utilize multiple sources, including analytics, surveys, and qualitative studies, and extract relevant insights. You are also able to accurately interpret data to reach informed conclusions
  • Understanding of best practices in sampling, statistical analysis for surveys, playtesting planning, and common biases in research
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach, as you will be working with high-density qualitative data that must be accessible, organized, legible, and understandable to anyone in the company

In addition to these, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have some of these as well:

  • Advanced knowledge of quantitative research
  • Experience using Dovetail
  • Experience in Game Design, UI/UX, or Art
  • Proficiency with Figma (or similar tools), Photoshop, and AI art tools
  • Familiarity with Game Refinery and Sensor Tower
