We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead up for leading the Client Tech development of our hit game, Merge Mansion. You will join the Merge Mansion Tech team and work with the Backend Team and other Central Tech Teams to help us build technology for the long-term.

Responsibilities

  • Focusing on our current architecture and how it supports Merge Mansion
  • Working on the client tech team roadmap for the Merge Mansion project, ensuring the team has well-established goals and a clear roadmap
  • Taking full ownership of the Client Tech Team that supports Merge Mansion and ensuring accountability for the team's delivery
  • Being a manager for Tech Programmers working in Merge Mansion Client Tech Team
  • Developing exceptional individuals capable of making independent technical decisions and providing guidance, mentorship, and feedback for professional growth
  • Acting as the Recruitment Manager for future needs of the team
  • Engaging hands-on in development projects and fixing bugs when needed
  • Ensure that the technical development is done up to our standards, improving and working with the code conventions, best practices and guidelines
  • Provide clear communication between different stakeholders including other technical and cross-disciplinary teams
  • Define metrics for success and drive to improve those metrics, both on the development and performance on-device

Requirements

  • Previous experience leading a technical team and a background in the game industry
  • Good understanding of game development architecture, identify points of improvement and help drive those across the teams
  • Commitment to code quality, documentation and testing procedures
  • Practical experience working on released games with Unity on mobile platforms
  • Able to improve the developer experience through understanding different needs and finding both technical and non-technical solutions
  • Strong experience in developing and publishing games with Unity, including
    • Understanding of Unity’s architecture for game building
    • Knowledge of how rendering and different technologies work with Unity
    • Experience developing games that target multiple platforms with Unity
    • Ability to profile, debug and drive optimisations targeting CPU, GPU, and memory usage
    • Addressables / AssetBundles utilization, Asset Pipelines, Editor Tooling and Build Pipelines
    • Platform specific development experience and experience using xCode / Android SDK
  • Extensive experience using C# and .NET, experience with languages such as C++, Java and Rust is seen as a plus
  • Experience using Git in the context of game development and GitHub actions in build pipelines and workflows
