We are a mobile game company, based in both Helsinki and Berlin, creating world-class entertainment by building a portfolio of hit games. Applications are now open for our trainee program, and we are offering two aspiring UI Artists the chance to help shape hit mobile games.
Press Play by Metacore is for emerging talent who are eager to enter the mobile game industry. The program starts in September and offers you a 6 months full-time trainee position as part of Metacore’s game team. You’ll work onsite from our Helsinki office alongside experienced colleagues who are eager to share their knowledge and also learn from you. It’s a great opportunity to start your career in the mobile game industry, and grow professionally.

As a UI Artist, you will play a key role in crafting intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our game, Merge Mansion. You will learn the role of a UI Artist with the guidance of a mentor and get support from your team every step of the way!
Responsibilities
In practice, this means (at least) the following:
- Reading and understanding functional flows
- Assisting in the design and creation of intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for mobile games
- Collaborating with artists, developers, and game designers to ensure UI designs fit the game’s vision and functionality
- Creating assets, such as buttons, icons, and layouts
- Optimizing and implementing UI assets in Unity
- Continuously learning and staying up to date on UI/UX trends within the mobile gaming industry
Requirements
Here are some of the key skills and experience you should already have when joining Metacore as a UI Artist:
- A basic understanding of UI design principles.
- Familiarity with UI design tools such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop or similar (even if through school or personal projects)
- A basic understanding of asset optimization and asset implementation
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics
- Ability to organize daily work to stay on track and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- An eagerness to learn and adapt to new design techniques and technologies
In addition, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have some of these as well:
- Interest in UX processes
- Interest in VFX or animation creation

- Location: Helsinki, Finland.
- Relocation: You must be eligible to work in Finland, as this role does not include relocation support
- Job type: Full-time, fixed-term employment for 6 months
- Start date: 1 September, 2025
- Work model: Onsite from Metacore’s Helsinki office
