Our culture is based on uncompromised trust, which allows us to work autonomously, efficiently and ambitiously. We have mutually agreed on five cultural norms to describe how we build trust and work as Metacore – you can find them here.

Our company’s mission is to entertain hundreds of millions of people for decades. Although we already entertain 20,000,000+ players worldwide, and have grown into a team of 60+ game industry professionals in less than two years, we’re only getting started. That’s where we hope you come in: to lead the way on how we deliver our software in the future.

Release Engineer plays a key role in helping our game and backend teams to automate and optimize their build and release processes to enable us to deliver our applications faster. In practice, this means (at least) the following:

  • Stakeholder of the company client and backend build and release processes and required tooling

  • Working together with development, operations and quality assurance teams to define, create, optimize and maintain build and release pipelines, ensuring faster time to market

  • Implementing tools and scripts that allow efficient builds and releases

  • Identify and promoting best build and release practices and processes throughout our company

Every role is eventually shaped to match our unique passions, backgrounds and strengths. Here are some of the key skills and experience you should already have when joining Metacore as a Release Engineer:

  • At least 3 years experience in release engineering, DevOps, software engineering or a similar role — especially related to mobile application release processes

  • Good understanding of CI/CD tooling, for example Jenkins, and pipeline development

  • Knowledge of working with container technologies and AWS, since all of our backend applications, as well as game servers, are run in containers on AWS

  • Practical know-how of at least one of the following: Bash, Python, C#

  • Team player with a can do attitude — qualities that will help you to thrive as part of the infrastructure team and in your collaboration with the game and backend teams

  • Top-notch problem-solving skills along with an automation first mentality

In addition to these, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to know these as well:

  • Apple Developer, Google Play, Testflight, Appcenter
  • Unity
  • iOS development and xCode
  • Container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Fargate)

Sounds about right? Then let’s talk!
